Together Again for the First Time

"Hi! How are you? I wanna do a podcast with you!"

I'll tell you this: Nate Braga is a very hard person to say no to. He is a person you say "yes, and!" to and then you go slurp noodles at the nearest pho place. Which is what happened.

I know. We're such a cliche: Two Chicago actors meet playing frenemies in the Chinese Cultural Revolution (M Butterfly at Court Theatre) later to be reunited by fate and cheap wine. What could we possibly talk about?

Turns out, quite a bit.

Specific Overtures is a podcast that focuses on the diverse theater scene we are so blessed to have in America and the artists that make it such an amazing community. In each episode we'll chat with an actor, playwright, designer, director, choreographer, producer, dramaturg, theater lover and ask them the tough and the tacky questions over a bottle of their choosing (provided we can find it at the Mariano's).

Representation on both sides of the table, on either side of the curtain is an issue that more people are becoming aware of, but one that a few of us have dealt with our entire lives. We wanted to share these conversations with the listening public, with hope that we can further the dialogue and have a lot of fun on the way. And by "fun" I might mean boxed wine.
